Movies Cause Profound Sleep
THX-1138: five minutes was all it took. Five minutes of quiet, white backgrounds, hushed voices. I got a plot synopsis from Clurg when it was all over, and had a lovely nap in the meantime.
Fellini's Satyricon: I really, really wanted to watch this movie. I did watch it for an hour. And then I slept very peacefully for another hour. When I woke up, the movie was still happening. Perhaps at some later date, I will be able to enjoy this film. Perhaps.

Ha ha ha, Satyricon. It's still going on. It will be going on long after all life hgas ended and the universe has collapsed into an ultra-dense dark-chocolate Nonpariel.
I'd love to hear the plot synopsis. Especially one that makes the Roman suicides or the painted flats make some sense. The theme of the movie is: "sometimes you do stuff, and other times stuff just happens. Mostly you watch this movie." It doesn't really make much sense on it own, as far as I can recall. Or it could just be I had forgotten the beginning four months later when I got to the end. (I'm probably still watching it, in some alternate universe.)

The only longer movie I've seen was Yellowbeard. (Oh maybe Breaking Away, but I guess some people actually like uplifting coming-of-age movies.)
I mean, dear God. I was interested at first, when I thought that maybe there was a story. No. No story. Just garish Italian women and freakishly pretty Italian boys. Romping. I saw a longer movie once, it was Russian, and I think it was called 'The Bell' or something to that effect. It was about making a bell. And lots of other things, but mainly making this big bell in Russia.
